Comments:

Shoulders slope forward as well as downward; long back fold begins only slightly above upper body corners. Pegbox not original (inferior craftsmanship), grafted to neck, which has extensive worm damage and shows various signs of alteration but may itself not be original. Neck attached parallel to body, with wedge under possibly original fingerboard of stained boxwood showing 8 lateral “tracks” perhaps from frets. Back and ribs of same wood, probably maple; back heavily varnished, ribs and table have many cracks. Currently has tailgut (button not original); string length estimated from photo. Several labels, including Rugeri (Meucci, private conversation at Magnano, 5/00). Drawing available from Pierre Bohr (erorut@libero.it), per VdG-Mitteilungen, 12/03.
