Repair label: “Cette Basse de Viole fut faite à Paris par Nicolas Bertrand l’an 1706 et démanchée et mise en Violoncelle à Lyon Par François Mougenot l’an 1788” (= probably Vannes’s François III, from a large family of luthiers in Mirecourt, who was married in 1774 but appears in documents there only until 1780). Restored by Alain Meyer (F, Metz): significant worm damage; patch to center of table, new pegbox, addition of old head taken from a cello labeled Lejeune.
