M. Fleming visit 4/02
[Unpublished, from M. Fleming: FB+S body only, head front 3/4 and side (color)]
3-piece table, 2-piece back, both with single purfling. Neck not original but pegbox and scroll are; ebony fingerboard old but not original; tailpiece missing (also one peg). Hole in hookbar and bottom block for an endpin. Condition “battered and bashed about, but basically all there”; some cracks on table and ribs. (Cross was a music seller in Oxford from 1711 to 1752; perhaps only a dealer and not the actual maker of this instrument.)
