Comments:

Acquired summer 2000; early photos show chinrest and 4 strings, also non-original scroll. Subsequently restored by Jan Stejskal, with rebuilt ribs and new neck, pegbox, and scroll. 5-piece table, double purfling front and back (but outer track disappears on front treble-side upper bout). As of 2004, owner attributes it to Jaye (without a question mark formerly used) c. 1620, based on Pringle’s (tentative) opinion. (Jaye probably died in 1636, per Fleming 2016.)
