Dendrochronology test (by Peter Klein) gives date of 1712 for youngest growth ring on 1-piece table; wood from same tree as Vázquez’s other festooned treble whose youngest ring dates from 1729. (These two instruments were formerly attributed to Marcell Pichler, Salzburg, c. 1660.) Durkin 2021, p. 153: nearly identical in shape, dimensions, and soundhole design to Nuremberg, GNM MI 207 and London, RCM 34, both violas d’amore now converted to violas.
