Sotheby’s 2005/11/08, lot 356
2-piece table with rosette and huge soundholes (similar to Tapio’s Jacobs and HAGUE 21, but larger than either); 2-piece back; both with double purfling. Pegbox has strong relief carving; that on back is almost identical to HAGUE 21. Given a 7th string by Dolmetsch, but returned to 6 when Kessler made new neck. Sotheby’s: “sold with a dendrochronology report by John C. Topham, dated 15th April 2004, giving the date for the youngest ring on the bass side as 1663 and for the treble side 1667”; their dimensions BL 64.5, SL 68.0.
