Comments:
Corners slightly pointed (lower more than upper). Table has very thin single purfling, back has none. Back flat, with no fold but ribs become shallower toward neck. 2-piece back with flames sharply sloping down from joint; upper part becoming slab-cut. Fluting of scroll stops at top peg; pegbox otherwise plain. Fingerboard and tailpiece both have broad ivory strip at end nearest bridge (Bingham: both “appear to be original”); tailgut with ivory button. No crossbars. Perhaps a viola d’amore?
