Comments:
Hellwig 2011, TieWV 008; Hellwig 1980, no. 007. 2-piece table with double purfling; 2-piece back (flat with fold). Neck, head, and fingerboard not original. Dimensions 67.5, 31.5/22.3/38.0, 12.4, - (widths probably taken on back). Restored 1955-56 by G. Hellwig. Hellwig 2011 adds: 3-piece table; pegbox also not original; tailpiece of 4 pieces of ivory (3 vertical, 1 horizontal at bridge end) with engraved decorations unlike those on any other Tielke instrument; tail gut of wire. Back widths 31.5/22.4/37.9. Ulferts 1997: multiple rebuildings (including cello conversion), plus restoration in 1956. 4-piece back. Male head mentioned by Schröder, apparently not original, was replaced in 1936 by a lion head. Schröder’s dimensions: 68.5, -/-/38, 13, -; wrongly says label is printed. Tourin: upper bouts have been changed; graft between neck and pegbox (latter looks new).
