Comments:
Had been converted to viola; restored (with 6 strings, not 5) by Biordi & Giraud, who found an oversize bass bar and one replacement rib. These now both replaced (again), together with neck, pegbox, and head, also fingerboard, tailpiece, and pegs, and worm-damaged linings. 1-piece back with two wings on lower bouts. Ribs of bird’s-eye maple. (Article title calls it “una ‘viola’ soprano Rudolph Höß / a treble ‘viol’ by Rudolph Höß,” implying some hesitation about whether it really is a viol.)
