Comments:
Narrow body: 2-piece table with thin single purfling and slight arching; 1-piece back, arched with fold, slab-cut, with purfling diamond-pattern decorations top and bottom. Neck very narrow, cello-style, inset into table. Not set up when seen: bridge and tailpiece missing. Pegbox and scroll are slightly different replacements for badly worm-eaten originals (still kept with instrument). Repair labels: “P.P. Ristauro / 1817”; “Réparé Nice 1894 / F. Bovis” (both in ink on back); catalogue says also restored by Atelier Véro-Dodat, Paris, 1994. Catalogue dimensions (taken on the back): 69.0, 25.5/19.5/30.5, -, 69.0. Bran-Ricci 2006: top block new, as well as neck and fingerboard; all probably by Bovis (1894), plus revarnishing.
