Comments:
On loan to Fiske Museum. In the style of Tieffenbrucker; supposedly made for International Exposition, Paris, 1900, but not in catalogue. Soundholes unusual: each side two-part with curved-sided triangles foot-to-foot. Very elaborately inlaid back using several colors, with bearded man looking at hourglass (cf. Boyer Tieffenbrucker); flat with no fold. Ribs plain but with “picture-frame”-like moldings disguising overhang of table and back; fingerboard and (short) tailpiece also elaborately inlaid. Bridge very tall, robust interior barring, whole viol quite heavy.
