Fleming: Double purfling on front, none on back; very coarse finish; dimensions 62.1, 30.2/22.3/36.2, 11.8; no bridge or strings when seen, so no string length. Website: Neck and tailpiece not original; worm damage. Shown in photo set up with 6 strings, but pegbox has unused holes for 7th peg, nearest to nut. Neck is short, but has room for 7 frets; has odd profile, and bandsaw marks on back; inset into table. Very dark varnish. Anne Houssay (at museum) thinks style of head is Parisian c. 1720, but body perhaps 17th-C. English, based on outline and C-holes.
