Comments:

Table and back original; ribs are c. 1800. Recently reconverted from a cello; new scroll copied from another by this maker. Dendrochronological testing by Peter Klein shows youngest year-ring on table dates from 1564; both halves come from the same tree. Beuting 2007: dendrochronology gives date of 1498 for for youngest growth ring on table. Carter 2006: “thoroughly modernized, with a slender neck set at a steep angle, soundpost and overwound strings.”
