On loan to Kunsthistorisches Museum; on display. Converted to cello; body has pointed corners but sloping shoulders; flat back but overhanging edges. Very long and wide F-holes. Width of upper corners 33.6. Repair label: mathias grießer lauten / und geigenmacher in / Insprugg Repar. Ao 1751 (?) [handwritten] Focht 2013: Kleine Bass-Gambe/Bass-Geige (Martius votes for gamba); curvature of upper bouts corresponds to usual S. German gamba model; double purfling on table, single on back (flat, 2-piece with small wings, maybe not maple), with outside moldings on overhanging edges of both; unusually small bass bar and soundpost plate; lower half of neck is original, with through-foot; originally 5 or 6 strings; dimensions 90.9, 33.5/24.0/34.1, -, -.
