2-piece table with wings, 3-piece back, double purfling on both. Later neck, pegbox, and scroll. Extensive worm damage now restored. Sotheby’s: “Probably by Richard Meares”; Ben Hebbert (personal communication): “definitely by Barak Norman”; Kessler certificate for current owner: “made ... by Barak Norman, London, in the last decade of the 17th century.” Repair labels: “Repaired by John Eadie, Roughazie, near Glasgow, Anno 1804”; “Restored by Matthys de Jong, Perth, W.A. 1992”. Also restored by Marc Soubeyran, 1994. Table ornament Type VIII, back center Type III, above and below Type II.
