Comments:

Hel 1989 catalogue (F. Gétreau): 2-piece back, 2-piece table; upper part of neck probably from conversion to cello (cf. repair label: “Réparé par Joseph POUILLE / Luthier à Lille en 1844”); head French c. 1700, probably from conversion to 7 strings; dimensions: 71.0, 32.7/23.0/39.7, 12.5, -. Fleming 2001: table (with single purfling) not original (“dendrochronology proves the belly was made after 1680”); slight possibility that back and ribs made in London in 1621. Pringle: Probably originally 6 strings (tailpiece drilled both ways). Neck original but reshaped both length and width. Worm damage. Drawing by Jean-Pierre Leclercq, available from Paris Conservatoire: dimensions (not over arching) 71, 33/-/40, 12.5, 75 [sic].
