Muthesius 1996, no. 5: 4-piece table, 1-piece back, head original, date “169-”. Neck angle changed in 1959 restoration; also new bass bar. Fingerboard veneered in tortoiseshell with a border of “bois amourette” (= snakewood). Mueller: date 1693, “Originalzustand”; dimensions 35.0, 16.5/-/20.5, 7.2, 36.0. Not in Kessler 1990. JVdGSA 1969: date 1690. Owner to J. Moran, 9/10: acquired in 1950s from Henry Jean Vermeer, then head of the string instrument department at Hug & Co., Basel; restored by G. Hellwig (worm damage, etc.). Large floral ornament on table: 3 long-stemmed blooms in a V shape.
