Birsak 1996, p. 179 (F+B)
Geiringter 1932: converted to cello, but keeping original tailpiece; neck, fingerboard, pegbox, and scroll crudely replaced. Table has single purfling and rosette; back has no purfling. Label probably doesn’t belong, but instrument shows characteristics of Salzburg style. Dimensions 71.5, 30.5/-/38, 13, -. Birsak 1996 adds: 1-piece table, 2-piece back with fold; inner fittings (bass bar, back linings, corner blocks, crossbars) very delicate (”sehr zart”); outer fittings (neck, fingerboard, tailpiece, end button with endpin) not original; date of cello conversion not ascertainable, but FB, TP, and bridge are more recent. “Der Gambencorpus is von außerordentlich feiner Arbeit”; no doubts expressed about Leidolff as maker. Back length 70.5, widths 30.3/21.5/37.6.
