[By TGM, 10/11: FB+S, head F+S, detail of inscription on back (color)]; [unpublished, in Heale Archive, on display in 1951: front 3/4]
On back, in ink, just below fold: “Monsieur Richard / Sieur de Lalande / Maistre de [la?] / Chapelle du / Roy / a Versailles, 1695” (very hard to read). [Per GAL 11, inscription supposedly reads “Monsieur Rameau”; cf. Gétreau 1996, p. 241, for a French bass “portant la mention Guillaume maître de la chapelle du roy, 1692”.] Table has one thick black line of purfling; back has none. Back and ribs are poplar (per M. Fleming); table perhaps also. Fingerboard and tailpiece reddish-blond with black edge stripes about 1 cm.
