Fleming 2016, p. 98

Fleming & Bryan 2016, pl. 12 (FB+S body only [color]); [unpublished, from owner: F+B, side body only, bottom ribs (color)]

Center portion of 3-piece back reuses wood from the back of a 17th-century English bass, with diamond-pattern designs at bottom and top (the latter originally in the middle on the bass). Unclear when instrument was assembled, perhaps c. 1700; ribs have been cut down, presumably for use as a viola; likely to have passed through Dolmetsch hands at some point; head seems to have been copied from that on GAL 11.
