[Unpublished, from owner 2/10: front, back 7/8 (both body only), head side, fingerboard, tailpiece (color)]
Hebbert 2001: 5-piece table with floral decoration (Type X), 3-piece back (unornamented). “All features of the construction are consistent with Barak Norman except for the original belly which is uncharacteristic in decoration and construction. All other features compare closely to 1697:1” [= Toronto, ROM 913.4.26]. Hebbert 2003b, p. 47: “A lyra viol (private collection, London) that may be attributed in its entirely to Meares II, though in fragmentary condition, retains parts of an original neck with marquetry fittings of the earlier sort.” Converted to a cello, but owner affirms that neck, pegbox, and scroll are original though crudely altered; now in poor condition with pegbox detached from neck, cracks in back, etc. Elaborately inlaid FB + TP (altered for cello use), using reddish wood on dark background; table ornament like Hebbert 2001, type X; double purfling on table and back.
