Herzog 2000, p. 14 (front); Milliot 1997, pp. 279-80 (back, side 3/4, head front 3/4 and side; color); [unpublished, from owner: FB+S, head FB+S, bottom rib (color)]
Striped back and ribs (maple and palisander; dark strips on back made of 2 pieces, yielding prominent Vs in grain). Rib height includes table and back thickness. Flower motives on pegbox, probably La Fille. Had 6 strings (plus sympathetics, on non-original neck) until restoration with 5 (3 pegs treble, 2 bass side) by W.L. Monical in 1983, who says body has never been opened. Restored to 6 strings by F. Lindeman, 1997. Acquired by J. Feldman (current owner’s father-in-law) as a gift from “the widow of French Concertmeister, after the 2nd war, in Paris”. Dimensions originally reported as 32.3, 15.5/11.2/18.4, 5.9, -.
