Comments:
(Presumably 1 of 2 anon. trebles noted by Bevan.) Waterhouse 1998/2010: back and ribs of fruitwood; no purfling on back. Fittings (pegs, nut, fingerboard, bridge, tailpiece, bass bar, frets) all modern. No corner blocks or linings. NB dimensions probably taken on back, with rib height including thickness of table and back. Listed as “?France, mid 18c,” with note that luthier Marcus Bennett’s 1974 report “suggested English maker, ca. 1750”. TGM: table has high arching, even medium/wide grain, single purfling; C-holes very upright; 1-piece back; 2 pegs treble, 3 bass side.
