Restored by Andrew Dipper, 1991; report in file at Shrine. Back and ribs are bird’s-eye maple; original condition, but neck has been narrowed such that it’s currently impossible to finger either highest or lowest strings; bridge and bass bar are from 1991; tailpiece also modern. Witten 1975, p. 43: “virtually identical in every detail including the wood” to VIENNA 8 (= 1585 violone). Banks dimensions: 66.5, 32.0/-/34.0, 12.2, -.
