Comments:
Geiringer 1932: “Diskantviola.” Back is folded at both top and bottom. In original condition, though varnish badly damaged. Dimensions 45, 27/-/27, 6.5, -. Birsak 1996 adds: converted to a viola; 1-piece table with rosette, 1-piece back. Originally a 7-string viola d’amore; bottom of table has traces of 7 wooden pegs to which sympathetic strings were attached; current pegbox and scroll crudely made; still has hookbar. Back length 46.0, widths 21.3/14.3/27.0. Not now and never was a viol.
