Wide single purfling on both table and back; latter is elaborately decorated with 2 vertical lines of relief carving and 7 diamond matrices between and beside them. Label information in 1977 letter from F. Abondance to P. Tourin; Gétreau 1996 (= same person) says “portant en relief sur le fond la marque Dieulafait”. Repaired in 1876 by Gand & Bernardel frères (ibid., p. 446); repaired in 1943 and extensively restored in 1948 by E. Français: “raccords de vernis” front and back, ribs unfastened and worm-damaged pieces replaced, cracks repaired everywhere, some with cleats; table arching redone, doubled, rebarred; new pegs, “refait pattes d’ff”, etc. (ibid., pp. 452, 455); repaired in 1963 by E. Vatelot (ibid., p. 463). Played in concert at the museum on 26 June 1943 by Edwige Bergeron: see Gétreau 1996, pp. 558-61.
