Had only 6 strings until restoration c. 1982 by Kurt Glaesel, Cleveland. From photos, Pringle and Zuchowicz think head is probably German. Purchased shortly before 1940 by Albert Riemenschneider, for his Bach Festival, from someone in France, according to Janet Winzenburger (at Baldwin-Wallace). Tourin: neck and pegbox not original; 4-piece back, 3-piece table.
