Heyde 1976, p.72; Breidert & Freyse 1964, p. 33

[line drawing in Breidert & Freyse 3rd ed. 1939, omitted in 4th ed. 1964]

Neck not original. Rosette. Lower body edge shortened and rounded as part of 19th-C. cello conversion that also added color painting all over; reconverted after 1911 (using a pegbox made c. 1880) and painting removed. Perhaps only back by Steinberg; front and ribs from 1st half of 18th C. Repair labels: “Paul Herrmann / Obersdorf, Reuss j.L. / reparirt Oktober 1884”; “C.H.C. Schmidt in Wurzbach 1830” [in pencil on inside of back]. Body dimensions from B+F 1964 (Heyde 1976 gives only BL and SL).
