Comments:
Back is arched and strongly flamed; table highly arched, with fine to wide grain; both have single purfling and clear recurve. Soundholes have small circles along inner edges. Pegbox has fluted back, with 4 pegs on the treble side, 3 on the bass; neck a hybrid of viol and cello designs; solid ebony fingerboard and tailpiece, the latter quite short and with end near bridge cut on a strong diagonal; tailgut. Bridge marked Léon Bernardel: high, with unused lower shelf for possible sympathetic strings.
