Wells and Nobbs 2007, p. 168 (front)

Mullen 2006: A hybrid, with arched back and violin fittings (not on display). Wells and Nobbs 2007 call it a “Viola with viol-form outline, possibly built as viol with arched back; renecked ?c. 1900.” Slightly pointed corners, flush edges, “awkwardly carved scroll with the fluting stopping short above pegbox.” Bridge stamped “W.E. Hill & Sons”; this “may relate to the neck and pegbox, which appear to be later (?c.1900).”
