Comments:
Van der Meer 1993: composite, “parzialmente forse di Antonius Bononiensis, secolo XVI–XVII.” Only (3-part, arched) back, neck, and pegbox are original; his body dimensions are therefore of the back, not table. Calls Lütgendorff’s equation of this maker with Antonius Brensius purely hypothetical. Website: rest of instrument predates 1866; ribs are rather shallow; varnish on back is original. No info on maker of this name; label may be false. Ferrari 1991: arched back has a central piece with wings top and bottom and no crossbars; neck not angled back. Dimensions 66, 29.6/22/35.5, 9.7, 66. TGM: decoration at top and bottom of back very similar (but not identical) to JONES 2, labeled “Joannes Marcus.” Soundholes are backwards Cs.
