Berlin 1988, p. 259 (head); Lütgendorff 1922, 1:303 (front); museum postcard (front 3/4 [color]); [by TGM 11/10, on display: F+B 3/4 (color)]

Otto & Adelmann 1975: larger than contemporary French trebles, especially in lower bout; perhaps tuned lower, in C? Striped back (bird’s-eye maple and walnut); ribs of flamed maple and walnut. C-holes have no upper eyes, but an extra “comma” next to lower ones. New neck. Pegbox old but not original; head probably from a smaller instrument, such as viola d’amore. Otterstedt 1994a claims this is practically identical (“beinahe deckungsgleich”) to KOPEA 11. 3-piece table, elegant work; rest of body of various woods, with crude inlays and generally clumsy work—perhaps made to fit pre-existing table? Lütgendorff (and Vannes): Jeremias W.; Sachs: Jeremias or Johannes. Lütgendorff: Altviola; Fleischer: Altviole.
