Comments:
2-piece table with inked double purfling (in places very near edge); 1-piece back. Neck probably original: no visible graft to head with La Fille-style decoration; 3 pegs treble, 2 bass side, of boxwood with large integral pips. Fingerboard and tailpiece have ebony veneer; hookbar is rosewood with ivory button. No crossbars on back except soundpost place. Seen hanging on wall in shop (owner’s private collection); had strings and frets, but nut and violin-style bridge both too high, and top string too close to edge of fingerboard. Ouvrard died in 1748, so this instrument was probably made (or at least finished) by Salomon (who married his widow later that year) or someone else in the shop.
