The Society issues a quarterly newsletter containing many short articles, letters and items of interest. Typical issues include a letter from the president, Society announcements, chapter news, workshop reports, coming events (North America and overseas), reviews, pictures, and classified and commercial advertisements. The Journal is an annual, scholarly publication containing histories, scholarly articles, translations, reviews of books, music publications and recordings--all relating to the viol. View the Tables of Contents from past issues. Guidelines for Making Journal Submissions: Authors are encouraged to make submissions to the editorial staff of the Journal. The editors welcome for consideration articles pertaining to the viols and related instruments, their history, manufacture, performers, music and related topics. Articles and reviews should be submitted on disk, specifying the computer and program used, or by email to the Editor, and authors should consult the Chicago Manual of Style, 15th edition, for matters of style. Camera-ready musical examples must be printed on separate sheets and identified with captions, and photos should be submitted as black and white glossy prints. Articles, correspondence and materials for review should be e-mailed to Robert Green, Editor, Journal of the VdGSA.
