Fantasia 14 (Meyer no. 2)
Many motives (12 altogether; unique in the set), varying counterpoints, recalls;
distinctive ficta interval 5/b6th/5 becomes the unifying
and expressive factor in a diverse mixture of textures, motives, speeds. M.43 (motive 11)
shows a close resemblance to a Byrd technique of explosive rhythmic figures that mark strong
harmonic progressions.
