Fantasia 4 (Meyer no. 4)
First section virtually monothematic on a long subject comprising at least 3 figures,
employing the rapid runs throughout the texture singly or in parallel pairs through a
broad range of related tonal areas, arriving at an augmented climax of rising parallel
motion. Three contrapuntal figures in second section, duo imitations, augmentations in
fluid interchanges, flexible intervallic and rhythmic shapes build to final climax.
